Volunteer in Nepal and you’ll be in for a real treat. While, the young republic needs all the help it can getting back up on its feet, after its 1996-2006 civil war, its culture is happily intact and looks more endurable than ever. What’s more, the land blessed with a rich array of topographies full of plains, valleys, forests and the snow lion’s share of the world’s tallest peaks, in the Himalayas. Volunteer projects in this glorious land take place in and near the exciting capital of Kathmandu, scenic resort town of Pokhara and in and near a fantastic national park in Chitwan. Most volunteer opportunities include work in an orphanage, teaching English and environmental conservation.

Volunteer work Uganda! This fabulous small country in central Africa allows you to peek at the private lives of mountain gorillas, enjoy a century-old botanical garden, take a cruise on Lake Victoria, and browse for handicrafts in the capital of Kampala. Help is needed in projects for HIV/Aids, healthcare, and English-teaching. Before your deployment to exciting projects around the country, it is recommended that you take the one-week course to learn basics of the local language and get immersed in the local culture. During weekends, volunteers enjoy getting to know the areas they are based in, namely Jinja, Kampala and Entebbe.

From land to sea, from Africa’s highest peak (Mount Kilimanjaro) to one of its most fascinating islands (Zanzibar), Tanzania delivers. Serengeti National Park is fabulous as well for its wildlife action and amazing migrations. And the grandeur of the Great Rift Valley cannot be underestimated. Volunteer Tanzania with IFRE and you’ll enjoy this great country and help its neediest residents, all the while enjoying both its touristic attractions and the feeling that comes from giving. In your first week in the country it is customary to take part in one week of local language classes, cultural immersion, and sightseeing in Dar es Salaam. IFRE projects in Tanzania benefit orphanages, women’s empowerment groups, health clinics and local schools.
